Version 4.3.0 (12 July 2024)
- New: FIR Designer now has a dark user interface theme available on both macOS and Window. To switch between light and dark themes, in Preferences, change the “Use dark mode” setting and restart the application.
- New: The thickness of plot lines can now set in Preferences, from1 pixel to 10 pixels.
- New: “AFMG SpeakerLab” IIR filter mode. (This mode is an analog filter mode and cannot be used with auditionDSP, nor exported to processors over DTP. It has simple, but not exact, conversion to/from other brands.)
- New: “StormAudio” IIR filter mode.
- Update: FIR latency compensation is now used on the Lab Gruppen DTP window (for export to IPX amplifiers).
- Update: The “Supplementary Responses” window now has optional normalisation to a user-chosen response.
- Update: When exporting FIR filters from the channel “Export” tab, two additional FIR filter files can be saved at the same time; a minimum-phase variant (with 0 sample delay and the same length as the main FIR filter) and an excess phase variant (with the same delay and length as the main FIR filter). The convolution of these two additional FIR filters matches the magnitude and phase of the main FIR filter. The enable this feature, press Control-H and a checkbox appears, labelled “Also save minimum and excess phase FIRs.”

Version 3.5.9 (3 May 2023)

Version 3.5.0 (6 November 2022)

- The ‘Lake’ mode has Lake specific filters only.
- The ‘Generic’ mode – now the default – has a similar filter set to the ‘Legacy (General)’ but with additional bandpass and notch filters, and now uses Robert Bristow-Johnson Q & BW definitions.
- Sample rate warnings now appear when using a branded IIR mode whose hardware doesn’t support the current FIR Designer sample rate.
- SMAART measurements, captured through the ‘SMAART Control’ window and passed to ‘Measurement Averaging’, are now saved when the averaging session is saved. The measurements are saved to a new *.FDM file format that is loaded when the averaging session file is loaded.
- A new ‘FIR polarity’ checkbox is now available on the channel Export tab. This replaces the ‘Invert FIR at save’ checkbox and the ‘Invert FIR at save’ setting is now transferred to the ‘FIR polarity’ when an older channel project file is loaded.
- ‘Cancel’ option when closing the app.
- Update: LPIF file export now includes Biamp IIR filters.

Version 3.3.0 (8 May 2022)
- New: Parametric, LP and HP variable Q, all-pass, Bessel and shelf IIR filters now have
perfect translations between IIR Modes. Q and/or BW is automatically optimised to give an exact response match. - New: Copy and Paste functionality is now available on most tabs to enable easy transfer of filter table data across FIR Designer and FIR Designer M. Filter lists can only be copied and pasted between like tabs; for example Mag Adjust -> Mag Adjust. Tabs that support copy and paste are Target Mag and Phase, IIR, Mag Adjust, Phase Adjust and Voicing.
- New: The IIR Filters tab and the IIR Reference Editor now each have a BW/Q selector with the filter list table. (There’s now no need to use the Preferences to change between BW and Q for IIR filters) Separate BW/Q settings (for each IIR filter mode) are store in the channel project files and the system file.
- New: Auto Mag and Auto Phase computation be paused to reduce program update lag while working IIR, Mag Adjust and Phase Adjust tabs.
- New: Xilica TXT file FIR filter export.
- Update: Import tab delay is now also displayed in mm, feet and inches.

Version 2.9.0 (13 February 2019)
- New: IIR filter modes provides accurate emulation of IIR filters for specific brand products, particularly with regard to bandwidth or Q. Options include “General” (including all IIR filters from prior versions of FIR Designer), “Linea Research” (including unique Hardman crossover filters) and “Powersoft.”
- Fix: Polarity of odd-order low-pass Bessel filters was incorrect, but matched Lake products. This version calculates the correct polarity for new projects, but maintains the inverted filters when loading older projects. It also provides an option to convert a project to the correct polarity.

- Fix: When side-loading FIR filters on the Lake and Powersoft DTP dialogs, some FIR filters that should load were being prevented and triggering a message that they were too long. The FIR filter length check wasn’t adjusting for the difference in sample rate between the FIR filter and the output channel.
