FIR Creator EX
Audio DSP Filter Software
Create finite impulse response (FIR) filters & mixed FIR + IIR filtering solutions for speakers.
Brand-specific IIR modes & advanced Direct-to-Processor function available for some brands.
Build a complete loudspeaker preset (DSP signal chain) via a Summary Output (Gain, Polarity, Delay + IIR filter/s) in combination with FIR filter files.
enhancement
Maximise the audio quality of an individual loudspeaker, device or entire system.
matching
Match different makes & models of loudspeakers in install systems.
tuning
Create tunings & presets with specific phase & magnitude characteristics.
correction
Perform system or room correction.
- Intuitive, fast workflow from impulse response import through to filter export
- Continuous audio filter calculation & error display as parameters are updated
- Two workflows
- FIR filter design from a loudspeaker measurement
- Direct FIR design, without a measurement
- FIR only or mixed IIR & FIR design
- FIR Filter sample rates: 12, 24, 44.1, 48, 93.75 (Hypex) & 96 kHz
- IIR filters (unlimited)
- Parametric, and low & high shelf
- Low-pass and high-pass Bessel, Butterworth, Chebyshev I & II, Elliptic, Linkwitz/Riley & Neville Thiele notched crossover.
- IIR coefficient export: regular transfer function and MiniDSP formats.
- Generic IIR filter mode includes all above filter types
- Branded IIR filter modes for AFMG SpeakerLab, Biamp Tesira, Blaze Audio, Bose Professional, BSS, Fohnn Audio, Lake, Linea Research, Marani, Powersoft, Pascal Audio, QSC Q-Sys, RAM Audio, RMS-Acoustics, Storm Audio & Symetrix. (IIR conversion between brands is not available. For this feature, see FIR Designer.)
- FIR filter design:
- Magnitude adjustment using an unlimited number of common filter prototypes (each with minimum, linear and maximum phase options) as well as:
- Keele/Horbach crossovers
- Linear-phase brick-wall crossovers
- Phase adjustment using an unlimited number of minimum and maximum phase all-pass filters, including a unique 4th order all-pass parametric phase filter
- Automatic magnitude correction with smoothing (1 band)
- Automatic phase correction with smoothing (1 band)
- Magnitude adjustment using an unlimited number of common filter prototypes (each with minimum, linear and maximum phase options) as well as:
- Target response options:
- User-defined parametric magnitude target with 2 slope segments,
- Impulse response target from file (with options to use magnitude only or magnitude and phase), or
- Both user-defined and file response combined
- Processor gain, polarity & delay settings
- Multiple FIR export formats for loading into FIR-capable processors and amplifiers
- Direct-to-processor (DTP) functionality:
- To LAKE PLM & D series amplifiers and LM series processors. Requires the FIR Designer LAKE plugin and the LAKE FIR 3-way module.
- To Lab Gruppen IPX controllers
- To Powersoft X, Ottocanali, Quattrocanali and DueCanali series amplifiers. Works via an XML file which can be loaded into the amplifier’s “Speaker EQ” or “Output EQ”.
- Side-load pre-existing FIR filters for use in different processor brands.
- Re-window longer filters to fit shorter FIR lengths or tap limits required by a different processor brand.
- Comprehensive range of measurement file formats supported for import.
- Import measurement resampling (measure at one sample rate, export filters at any sample rate.)
- Smaart® Control for live measurement streaming and capture directly into FIR Designer.
- Adjustable user interface preferences include light or dark mode, custom plot colors/line widths, speed-of-sound customization & plot frequency spacing options (either Logarithmic or Third-Octave.)
- Moveable license: deactivate then reactivate on another computer.
- Windows & macOS versions (Windows 10 22H2 & above. Or macOS 11 above)
